#ViewBridge winners announced: Fraternal love and friendship

#ViewBridge winners announced: Fraternal love and friendship

2 July 2015

We’re delighted to announce the winners in our #ViewBridge photography competition, inspired by the Touring Consortium Theatre Company’s recent production of Arthur Miller’s modern American classic A View from the Bridge.

First Prize

Our Theatre Cloud and Touring Consortium judges selected Laura Pearse’s photograph “Brotherly Love”, capturing two young boys linked as they cross “a wobbly bridge in the trees in Northumberland”.

Brotherly Love by Laura Pearse

The protective stance of the older brother, as he and his brother embark on a new adventure in precarious conditions, reminded us of Marco in his attempts to safeguard his younger, more impetuous sibling Rodolpho as they arrive fresh off the boat in America in Miller’s play.

Laura wins a Go-Pro Action Camera and Starter Kit. Congratulations, Laura!

Most Popular Prize

To determine the Most Popular Prize, the hundreds of photos submitted were narrowed down to a long list of 25, based on selections by the Theatre Cloud team and A View from the Bridge company, as well as total public ‘favourites’ received to date. This long list was published last month for final public ‘voting’, favouriting and sharing.

A Friendship Bridge by Fiona Haward

The clear audience winner at the end of this centres on another kind of love: friendship. Fiona Haward’s “A Friendship Bridge!” captures a fun and frolicsome afternoon of play with another group of children. Her caption tells us: “A helping hand reaching out in friendship...bridges can be built between strangers.”

Fiona wins a £50 Amazon voucher. Congratulations, Fiona!

Special Mentions

We also wanted to highlight two other photographs that also attracted lots of audience approval and which point their lens at water features in two of the UK’s great cities:

Zena Marshall’s “Quay Reflections” – shot at the Quays in Salford

Rosalind Sargent’s “Camden Lock – shot at Camden in London
