Our Young Person's Guide to the Brass Band!

Monday, 19 May 2014

The delightful Jackfield Band took time out of performing in our production of Brassed Off, to host a guide to the brass band for one of the Touring Consortium Theatre Company's Wolverhampton Partnership Schools, King's School, in the auditorium of the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

Blowing some trumpets!

Well, actually, there are no trumpets in a brass band - you are more likely to see cornets, baritones and E flat basses...but you will know that for yourself once you watch our light-hearted guide to the brass band.

When asked by head of Music at King's School to help promote brass band music and get some interest back in the school brass band, TCTC and Wolverhampton Grand were ready to take on the challenge! With the fantastic enthusiasm and support from Jackfield Band, a Young Persons Guide to the Brass Band was created and staged in the auditorium for over forty young people.

They got a chance to hear the band play live and up close, find out more about the instruments that make up a band and the cherry on the top...they even got to have a tootle on the instruments themselves!

We had such a blast helping to host the event, we hope we have created some converts to brass band music in the process!
