Creative Comedy Project — Vote for Crowd Favourite

Creative Comedy Project — Vote for Crowd Favourite

11 May 2017

Here's how to vote for the piece of comedy you think is funniest and should receive the Crowd Favourite Award.

Back in January, we launched the Creative Comedy Project, encouraging people across the UK and in particular, the communities we tour to, to get 'write' funny and submit an original piece of comedy that deals with one or more of the themes from Meera Syal's Anita and Me. The themes were family, coming-of-age, migration, racism, love and friendship, cultural and social change

Over the course of the past 5 months, participants have provided barrels of laughs in a variety of vivid comedy writing. Popular themes selected were coming-of-age and issues of cultural and social change.

We'll be announcing the winners in early June, crowning the winning piece Comedy Gold, as well as runner-up positions of Silver and Bronze. We'll be awarding another piece Crowd Favourite, as voted for by the public. This is the bit where we need your help.

So, what's been making you laugh? Was it the one about the greasy haired dinner lady? The just deserts for the school bully? Or perhaps the cut-throat competition? Whichever piece of comedy has had you rolling on the floor laughing, we want you to let us know.

Simply mark your support by clicking the heart on your favourite on the project page. Don't forget, if you've submitted a piece of comedy, this is your chance to spread the word about your work and encourage your friends and family to mark their support. Votes will be counted on Tuesday 30 May 2017, 3pm

Good luck to everyone taking part!

Anita and Me opens at Wolverhampton Grand theatre, where it plays from 14 to 18 February 2017. It then tours to Cheltenham, Blackpool, Nottingham, Bradford and Edinburgh.
