To celebrate Arthur Miller's centenary next year, the Touring Consortium Theatre Company will be producing a new production of the much-loved play A View from the Bridge.  The production will also include a community ensemble hand-picked from locals to each tour stop on the way. It's X Factor for the touring theatre world!

"I am willing to even sweep the stage to have the chance to perform. It would fulfil a lifelong ambition to appear on the Darlington Civic stage." says John Irvine, a community cast auditionee - (we didn't ask him to sweep the stage!)

The auditions this week in Darlington saw the Civic theatre throw open it's doors to lots of hopefuls all wanting a part in the community cast. These included emerging professionals, a maths teacher, a TA volunteer, keen amateur enthusiasts and a mum of two with a dream of treading the boards.

"I would love the opportunity to audition.
I have never acted before but it has always been a dream of mine. Since having my children I realise that you shouldn't let chances pass you by. Life is too short and precious." says mum of two, Vicky Callaghan.

The full community cast for Darlington will be announced in January and will appear alongside the production’s professional company of actors. In the January, Theatre Cloud will also be reporting on community auditions in Wolverhampton (20 Jan).
