Back to the Forties - family vintage days and choirs take over Consortium venues

We've all gone lindy hopping crazy with vintage days and 1940's choirs being hosted at consortium venues to celebrate the World Premiere of To Sir, With Love.

The Touring Consortium Theatre Company have been working closely with consortium venues to organise vintage days across the UK to bring a bit of the forties glitz and glamour to the local communities.

Taking inspiration from Northampton Royal and Dergate's outstanding Vintage Day, regional venues such as the Bradford Alhambra, Dartford Orchard theatre, Wolverhampton Grand and Darlington Civic have been hosting lots of family friendly events inspired by the themes and era of To Sir, With Love.

Local families and individuals got to enjoy lindy hop dance classes on theatre stages amongst the To Sir, With Love set; special 1940's beauty bars were set up to give tutorials on how to acheive those 'victory rolls'; choirs got involved singing some of the hits of the era and there were even 'rationed teas' with spam sandwiches!
