Tell A Tale in 500 Words
The Fox By Diane Cassels
The story of my life, is about the story of the people that’s in it. I haven’t always been lucky in life as I am now.
My life began when I was born. I couldn’t open my eyes so I was so scared but I could sense and smell my mother. We were a happy family living in the woods. There was myself, my parents and my siblings. My mother told me the stories about the people who would enter the woods, it made me feel scared to leave our den. But one day I will have to leave and fend for myself.
The months went by and summer arrived, was lovely and warm and the woods was full of green colours. I was now about 6 months old. I was enjoying myself and my time with my family but all this was about to change.
It was September and the great Hunt was out and about. This is what we fear, we have to run and run and run, otherwise the hounds will get you. All I could hear was the stomping of the horses hooves, the hounds yelping and a man shouting. I didn’t hear my mother shouting for help, she told me to run. When I turned round it was to late, she had been taken. My mother had been taken from me right in front of my eyes. I did not know what to do or where my other family members were.
It was night and I was alone in the woods. I did not know where to go or what to do. My body was shaking and trembling from the shock of what happened today. Why did I have to be fox? If only I could make a change? But I can’t, it’s too late.
The months went by I had to keep moving on through the woods, I had now become the age of 1 year old. Those images of my mother will live with me for the rest if my life. I had no idea where I was heading or where I was going. I laid down to rest and keep warm, there was no food or water, what is a fox to do in a situation like this?
I slowly opened my eyes and could smell food. Then I heard voices, “what is that I thought to myself”. I approached cautiously but I was so hungry. I looked with my head to one side. “Are you hungry” she said, she threw me some food from the pan she was cooking in. “Oh my you are hurt” she said with a soft voice. I had been so traumatised that I did not know that I was injured.
The lady came closer to me, I knew that she would help so I let her attend my wounds. The next thing I woke up and was no longer alone, for I was now safe, the lady took me home and changed my life forever.
